“We didn't learn racism alone. We cannot unlearn it alone.” – Rev. angel Kyodo williams.
With the election at our doorstep and so much uncertainty it’s very easy to get overwhelmed and hard to know and focus on what matters. Are you finding it challenging to stay engaged with the anti-racism work? Or yearning for a courageous space to practice awareness, unpack patterns and find support for different ways of showing up for racial justice?
I’m offering facilitated support and accountability pods for 5 people to develop your own sustainable embodied anti-racism practice.
No matter where you are on your journey of learning and becoming an active participant in the true liberation of all beings, all perspectives are welcome. You will be held within a developmental framework, that acknowledges both the upsides and downsides of modern culture and history. We will start from the truth of inter-being, practice curiosity and fierce compassion.
Together we will inquire how we get disconnected from that truth, how to reconnect with our sense of being rooted, ancestry, community, potential and (self) healing powers. And from there we will realign our intention and values with our actions.
Further topics we might explore (based on what’s alive in the pod):
Getting to know your nervous system, recognizing when you’re off and practices to settle your body
Remembering yourself - expanding your capacity to listen and be with discomfort
Ancestral healing and support
White fragility, white backlash, cultural appropriation, micro-aggressions, allying etc.
Culture without supremacy - what can we create or regenerate?
Practicing transformative anti-racism on all levels at our reach (personal, relational, institutional and societal) - healing divides and restoring balance
What’s my sphere of influence and what’s mine to do?
Time - rhythm and pace:
90 min calls twice a month (regular day and time tbc)
3 month commitment, renewable every 3 months
Commitment to developing a personal racial justice practice
Application in own context
Investment: Sliding scale $300-450 for 3 months, payable in full or monthly
This investment into your own healing and wellbeing will positively impact your relationships and communities of influence. I invite you to offer what you can and a little bit more.
The little bit more will go towards my voluntary work supporting black organizers redesigning Oakland public schools without police and alternative schools for transitional youth 18-24 years old.
If the fee is prohibitive for you, but you feel called to participate, please get in touch with me and we’ll have a conversation about what’s possible and respectful for both or alternative energy exchange.
If you are interested, please fill out this short registration and I will be in touch with you.
What people say about being part of a pod:
“This circle has provided me a safe place to speak the truth, ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from other white people committed to evolution.”
“In the aftermath of George Floyd's death, I realized how little I knew about the state-sanctioned violence in our country, as well as how ignorant of racism I was. Simone's Pod has provided a touchstone as the world I thought I knew shifted and a different reality revealed itself to me. We've been able to share our learnings, realizations, fears, concerns, ignorances and incomprehensions in a safe space. We do grounding practices, share resources, and hold space for each other. This work can be uncomfortable and embarrassing and I've been grateful to have a place where I can be vulnerable and openly curious. I truly believe that healing the wounds in mind and body inflicted by racism and white supremacy is the most important work we can be doing to support equitable justice and freedom for All.”
“This pod offers a space where it is ok to be learning, it is ok to not be sure, and it is ok to mess up. We are welcomed and held in our figuring out together what it means to embody anti-racism.”
“I joined Simone's Pod at a time when I was ready to deepen my commitment to antiracism. The meetings have become very important to me, a safe place to learn and make mistakes, as we all will do while engaging in this work. I am infinitely inspired by the other group members and appreciate the accountability the group naturally provides.”
“Being in a pod has been an opportunity to get feedback on my draft thinking and learn from the challenges others experience in addition to what I’m learning by leading.”
